The Opportunity of his Life

The last weekend of June Matt had an opportunity to run sound for an outdoor event to Honor Our Heroes in Greenwood, Indiana. There was an estimated 6,000 people on the property for the event which Gabe and I really enjoyed. I think Matt had a good time too, but he did have to work. Anyway, the event had two famous Christian bands, John David Webster and Salvador, and a main ceremony that had the Indianapolis Children's Choir, and the church's choir on the stage. Then at the end of the ceremony they honored all retired and active military and emergency personnel with medals. They also let off over 5,000 red, white, and blue balloons while a military helicopter flew over. In addition there was a kid zone with games and inflatables (which Gabe thoroughly enjoyed) and the Indianapolis Police Brigade. Finally to end the evening they had a really good fireworks display.

These are pictures of the bands on stage.

This is a picture of the balloon launch and the helicopter flying over.

I thought this picture was really neat. You can see Matt and the huge flag. You can also kind of tell how big the crowd is. We were sitting in the very back of the parking lot which is where the stage was located.

This is Gabe in the kiddie area. This inflatable is one just for kids under 5 years old.

Did I forget to say that there were food stands. This is Gabe enjoying his slice of pizza. He loves his "pia".

This is Gabe enjoying the fireworks. He doesn't get bothered by the loud noise and now refers to them as boom-booms.
