Our family brought in the new year at a Chi Alpha conference in Indianapolis with me being sick. We are not sure if it was food poisoning or the flu, but either way it was not the best way to bring in the new year. Luckily, it only lasted a day or so and then I was feeling much better. We then spent the rest of the 1st and 2nd in Indianapolis with Matt doing the lighting for the conference and Gabe going to a class with other kids his age to learn about being salt and light to a the world around him. We all really enjoyed our time at the conference, but we were glad to be able to go home after 5 days in a hotel.
When the conference was over we did decide to spend a little family time at a new pizza place we found in Indianapolis called Incredible Pizza Company. It is much like Chuck E. Cheese, but it also has indoor mini golf, bumper cars, go-carts, and mini bowling. We all had a good time.
The following weekend was my special weekend in Indianapolis which I posted about earlier. We are not very busy during the week, but we always seem to have something to do on the weekend so that brings us to the next weekend which we spent going to Bloomington on Saturday so that Matt could take some sound equipment for two shows he had coming up. We also got to go to dinner with some friends in Bloomington before heading over to Greenwood for a little shopping before heading home.
Then this past week Gabe started reading time at the library on Tuesday afternoons in addition to having our monthly MOPS meeting on Tuesday night. Gabe also had a playdate on Wednesday with his cousins and another one of his friends. They all had so much fun and thanks to my sister we had lunch as well. While we were off doing library and playdates, Matt was In North Manchester, IN doing a school assembly and night rally on Wednesday with set-up on Tuesday and he returned home on Thursday after an afternoon at work.
This past weekend we just got to spend some time together around here. Friday we had a family movie night. We watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (from Redbox), which Gabe really liked and Matt made popcorn. Saturday, I had to go get fingerprinted so I can start substitute teaching again in a few weeks and then we went shopping, home for naps, and then to dinner. Sunday of course was church, but then the kids went with my parents while Matt and I went to a lunch meeting for church. We had some friends over after the meeting to watch the game and have pizza and snacks. The kids enjoyed the pizza, but slept through most of the game.
So that has been our January thus far and as it comes to a close we are looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead in 2010.
If you have not already stopped reading here are a few pictures from January.
